Concrete slabs release moisture vapor as they cure and, in slab-on-grade or below-grade construction, can continue releasing it for years afterward. When that vapor emission exceeds the tolerance of a finish floor, it causes adhesive failure, blistering, delamination, discoloration, or odor — often long after installation. Moisture mitigation starts with testing the slab (relative humidity probes and calcium chloride testing are the standard methods) to establish its actual moisture condition, then applying a two-component epoxy vapor-barrier system directly to the prepared slab where testing shows it's needed. The barrier chemically bonds to the concrete and reduces vapor emission to a level the finish flooring can tolerate — so installation can proceed on schedule instead of waiting weeks or months for a slab to dry naturally.
